Meeco Sullivan was proud to sponsor the Dana Bolton Flotilla Concert at the Community Sailing Center in Burlington, Vermont on September 5, 2020. The concert was a memorial to honor the life of a beloved volunteer, instructor, and board member of the Community Sailing Center; Dana Bolton. Dana passed away in May after a battle with brain cancer.
The Community Sailing Center is located on Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont with a mission “to encourage and celebrate the responsible use and long term stewardship of Lake Champlain by fostering educational and recreational opportunities for all members of our community.” The Signature Programs offered at CSC are designed for students, at-risk youth, women and girls, and individuals with disabilities.
In order to maintain proper social distancing guidelines, the fundraiser concert could only be attended by boat. All sponsorships and donations were used to create the Dana Bolton Legacy Fund, allocated for two main projects. First, constructing the Dana Pier to provide accessible waterfront and experiential learning. Secondly, establishing the Dana Scholarship to ensure children of a limited socio-economic background can participate in the LeaderShip program at the Community Sailing Center.
Meeco Sullivan recently built a gangway and landing dock for the Community Sailing Center in July 2020; completed in time for the event with no disruption to the local sailing programs during installation. Owen Milne, executive director noted, “The Community Sailing Center was under the gun to complete the relocation of our docks and waterfront off to a soon-to-be construction site. The Meeco Sullivan team did not disappoint. Their product remained on-budget and on-time despite COVID-19 and a challenging installation location. The products performed perfectly all season, and culminated in an end-of-summer concert that delighted all who attended.”
